The Nuuo NAS NVRmini is a compact sized, plug and play network video recorder designed to operate as a stand-alone video surveillance system. By including a Linux based embedded system the Nuuo NVRmini allows for a stable, open and virus free operating environment that is easy to operate and administer. IP cameras from over a dozen different camera manufactures are supported including ACTi, Axis, D-Link, Sony and Vivotek brand IP network cameras. The NVRmini is available in different variations based on the amount of cameras to be connected and the amount of storage required for recorded video data. Other features include RAID hard drive configuration for added redundancy, I/O device connections allowing for external sensors or alarms to be connected and remote access capabilities allowing for convenient access via the Internet. The NVRmini can also support other NUUO products including NUUO CMS (Central Monitoring Solution) and NUUO POS (Point of Sale) system.

Sony recently announced at this year’s ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits Event, ASIS 2009, the first HD IP cameras to include ‘Exmor’ CMOS image sensors with View-DR technology. The Sony SNC-CH140 fixed camera and the Sony SNC-DH140 mini dome camera will be the first IP cameras to incorporate Sony’s new ‘Exmor’ CMOS image sensor and View-DR technology

Sony Press Release Excerpt:

Using the high-speed Exmor imager coupled with Sony’s latest imaging technology, the new HD network cameras combine the company’s wide dynamic capabilities with its visibility enhancing settings, optimizing the cameras’ ability to capture high quality images in harsh lighting conditions – the feature is known as View DR. With View-DR, the camera captures multiple images to reproduce each frame. One image is taken using a standard exposure time and either one or three images are taken using very short exposure times depending on the camera type.

Ten companies directly involved with developing IP network video surveillance devices recently got together in Japan the first ONVIF developer’s plugfest event. The event was held to allow developers an opportunity to test product implementations that include ONVIF core specification 1.0. Testing was conducted on network cameras, video encoders and video management software compliant products.

ONVIF Press Release Excerpt:

Ten companies active in the network video surveillance market joined the first ONVIF developer’s plug fest in Tokyo, Japan on September 1-3. At the event, the participants tested their product implementations of ONVIF core specification 1.0. The testing included video encoders, network cameras and video management software, verifying interoperability between the products and the software. All participants – Axis, Bosch, Canon, Hitachi, IndigoVision, Merit Lilin, Panasonic, Sony, Vivotek and Zuken – could confirm the correct implementation into their products.

“We are very pleased with the results from the plug fest as all companies successfully achieved the goal of interoperability with the other participants,” says Markus Wierny, Bosch Security Systems, Member of ONVIF’s Technical Services Committee and organizer of the plug fest. “This means a significant step towards ONVIF’s goal of achieving global interoperability.”
