ACTi Corp. has recently released the TCM-5312 IP camera, an extension of the TCM-5311 IP camera that has already been available for some time. Both the TCM-5311 and TCM-5312 are 1.25 megapixel IP camera devices with support for MPEG4, MJPEG and H.264 video compression formats. However, the TCM-5312 differs from the TCM-5311 by requiring 24V AC for power while the TCM-5311 features support for 12V DC power or Power over Ethernet. By introducing the TCM-5312, ACTi can now provide high performance megapixel IP camera devices that can cater to various power requirements that may exist. If low voltage cabling is required or if cable costs need to be reduced then the TCM-5311 with support for 12V DC and PoE is the right camera for the application. If the power requirement for the application is 24V AC, which is common for most traditional security applications, then the TCM-5312 is the right choice. Be sure to check out more details on the ACTi TCM-5312.

The Elite Menswear retail shops in Australia are utilizing a combined system that is capable of incorporating a POS (Point of Sales) system in conjunction with a video surveillance system. By combining both systems into one, an economical solution has been created which will allow for transactions to be recorded and monitored in addition to being able to provide video surveillance to protect each shop from thefts, burglary or any controversial transactions that may take place. ACTi in cooperation with Autoidea have provided this cost effective combined solution and have provided a singular surveillance system for both the video security and POS requirements of each retail location.

Autoidea has utilized ACTi’s free SDK (software development kit) to allow for ACTi IP camera devices and network video surveillance software to be used in conjunction with Autoidea’s PowerDrive POS application software. The ACTi ACM-4201 PoE megapixel cube IP camera was chosen for the video surveillance aspect of this application.

ACTI Press Release Excerpt:

Autoidea offers ACTi IP solution with integrated with Autoidea PowerDrive (POS) by ACTi free SDK. With this integrated solution, customer could go to a particular sales invoice and playback the video for certain sales transaction. It’s easy and convenient for the owners and shop mangers to compare the transaction details with physical goods by footages (video clips).

Bunning’s Warehouse is one of the leading home DIY (Do It Yourself) store and building material suppliers in Australia and New Zealand. It was established in 1886 and has grown to include approximately 280 stores between the two countries. ACTi IP cameras were chosen to secure one store initially with 20 IP cameras being installed. ACTi’s system integration partner, New Zealand based Income Security, was responsible for the IP camera implementation which includes ACTi megapixel IP cameras. The megapixel video resolution capabilities of the ACTi cameras have meet the video quality requirements set forth by Bunning’s Warehouse. With this initial installation seeing much success, there will be more Bunning’s Warehouse locations secured by ACTi IP cameras.

ACTI Press Release Excerpt:
With ACTi’s camera, the excellent video quality and high resolution meet the requirement of Bunning’s Warehouse. Especially the megapixel resolution provides very detail and clearer image than the previous DVR system. It’s safer for the customer and the store owner and can provide evidence when there’s an argument or accident.

Axis Communications recently announced a plan for increasing safety for a school project in Portugal. The entire project calls for more than 12,000 network cameras to installed into public schools. The primary goal of this camera installation was to increase safety while doing so in a cost-effective manner. The installation was started in August 2009 and will continue into 2010.

The Axis 225FD fixed dome network camera was chosen for installation in indoor environments while the Axis 221 Day/Night network camera was chosen for installation in outdoor environments. The network cameras are being installed in corridors and school entrances within 1,200 schools across Portugal. Axis network cameras were chosen due to the high level of image quality, their ability to directly connect into existing IP networks within the schools and due to the included PoE (Power over Ethernet) functionality which helps to greatly reduce installation cost. PoE support will eliminate the need to run a separate power cable and will allow for the Axis network cameras to receive power via the same Ethernet cable line used for video data.

Axis Communications Press Release Excerpt:
“We are proud to deliver our network cameras to the schools in Portugal. We have seen an increasing interest in installations of network video products at schools and universities due to a heightened interest in student security.” said Ray Mauritsson, President, Axis Communications. “As the schools often have the infrastructure in place, a cost-efficient installation of network cameras with superior image quality can easily be deployed.”
